Reflections on 2025
Locking in, running, surfing and highlights from an incredible year
Happy 2026! We’re back with my annual reflection post.
I hit the three year mark of working at Trinsic in August and things are going better than ever. We are growing quickly, gaining traction and 2026 is going to be a huge year. Work has occupied a lot of my mental energy in order to get to this position. We pivoted the company and started from zero two years ago to becoming a global leader in the identity industry. I’m grateful to have gone on some great work trips this year to Zurich, New York, Amsterdam, Denver, Phoenix and Las Vegas. I think the upcoming year will have even more in store.
Beyond the work travel, we’ve been comfortable home in Portsmouth. As the dogs both get older, it’s harder and harder to leave them for extended periods of time and find dog sitters so we’ve embraced local adventure. Trying all the restaurants in the area, visiting new coffee shops, surfing the local beaches, running around the neighborhood.
We’re not going to Florida for the winter this year, so we’re experiencing the New Hampshire season in all its cold glory. For me, having a variety of activities both indoor and outdoor keeps the days interesting with a mix of weathering the elements, and hiding from them depending on what Mother Nature provides. When it’s not super snowy or icy I’ll still get out for some runs in the daylight, or join run club which goes year round. When the weather gets crazy I’ll run inside or go to Salt Pump for some bouldering indoors. If the waves are good, I’ll be at the beach no matter the weather.
Highlights from the year
Despite spending a ton of time and energy on growing Trinsic, there was still a lot of fun mixed in! I went through the camera roll to pull out some highlights from 2025 in each month because there were a lot of great memories made.
January
I turned 30! We went to Jay Peak with family and friends to celebrate with some snowboarding and water park fun. After this trip, we packed up and headed south for Florida for a few weeks.
February
We spent the month down in Bradenton and Sarasota, Florida enjoying the mild weather, finding great coffee, and getting out to golf. I played Streamsong with my Dad and Joseph which was a memorable experience.
March
I went to Zurich for a conference and then went to Zermatt for a few days of skiing. Absolutely incredible scenery and tons of fun. Having a walkable village right at the base of the mountain is awesome. Would love to get back to the Alps one day!
April
We went to Miami for a wedding which was a fun, quick trip. April is also when I joined the Treeline Run Club which was such a huge turning point in meeting new people in the area, and propelling my running forward.
May
In May the days are long, the weather is warm and people come out of hibernation in New England. There were a ton of social events this month, and I surfed a huge Nor’easter on Thursday evening right before Memorial Day weekend. We went down to NYC for the weekend with our friends and went to a super cool tiki bar called Paradise Lost.
We also moved apartments to get a bigger unit in our building with direct access to the courtyard which was a huge quality of life boost.
June
Visited Amsterdam for a conference and had a nice time exploring the city.
Got to play Bethpage Black, the golf course where all the best players in the world were playing in September for the Ryder Cup.
Went to the Outer Banks for the first time which was super fun except no waves when we were there :(
July
Launched my first CoFlo Portsmouth coworking series in partnership with Treeline where people from the area can come and work for the afternoon in a cool space.
Went back to NYC for Sophia’s birthday, and to see Daniel and Patti and Sol before they moved back to Taiwan.
August
Went to Savannah, Georgia with the fam. Then my sister Julianna got engaged to Patrick and we had a fun celebration at Treeline in Portsmouth!
Hosted my friends Matt and Tom for a little golf weekend in New England, then went to the Trinsic company offsite in Denver, then straight to Kohler, Wisconsin to play Whistling Straits with Zach.
Launched the NH Startup Events newsletter with Rae Lambert to help curate and promote events for entrepreneurs in New Hampshire.
September
Went to the AAMVA conference in Phoenix. Pro tip: don’t go to Phoenix in September. It was 100 degrees at 8pm.
Then we went to Montreal with friends for a long weekend of fun wandering around the city.
October
Hosted Sophia’s family, then hosted my colleague Josh in Portsmouth. Always fun to show people around the place we live!
Ran my half marathon and was very proud of the result.
Went to Money 20/20 in Las Vegas, our biggest conference of the year for Trinsic.
November
With the days getting shorter, things started to slow down. Work was busy, but no travel this month. I ran my first 5k in years and was happy to run 20:02 which was a few seconds slower than I hoped, but still a great result.
December
Sophia and I went to Atlantis in the Bahamas to celebrate her 30th birthday.
We went to Stowe with Sophia’s family and got in some great days of skiing.
Then we laid low for the holidays. Spent some time with family around New England, but mostly hung out with the dogs and hunkered down during a historically cold and snowy month for Portsmouth.
What’s up for next year
2025 was great. Tons of surfing, running, climbing, snowboarding, tennis, golf and more. In 2026 I’m hoping for more of the same with continued growth and progression in these domains.
73 sessions of the surfing I definitely improved a lot, both with my fitness and technique, but I have a long long way to go. Surfing is notoriously hard to improve at because you’re completely at the mercy of the ocean and there could be no waves for weeks.
Rock climbing I’m definitely getting stronger, but not necessarily climbing much harder routes yet. Totally fine here and plan to just enjoy this sport to stay fit.
Running I progressed quickly and ran 485 miles in 2025, but it will take a lot of work to push into the next tier and I’m not sure if I’m that committed. I may stick to primarily social running with some light progression if it seems to fit into my life.
Same with golf, I posted 36 scores this year at 26 different courses, and scored the lowest rounds of my life, but it’s so time consuming to get better that I’m accepting a temporary plateau and will just enjoy playing around the same level.
My intention for 2026 is knowing where to push and where to rest. It’s not sustainable to fire on all cylinders in every domain.
Huge appreciation
Looking back through my photos and making this post is such a great reality check on all of the amazing things that can happen in a year. I feel unbelievably lucky to be in this position.
Thanks to everyone who was involved in making 2025 so special. Here’s to many more memories in 2026!
